The second film in our celebration of National Architecture Week is Marc Forster’s Stranger than Fiction.
In 2006’s Stranger than Fiction, Director Marc Forster makes an architectural playground out of Chicago. Clearly gleaning from our first pick Playtime, Harold Crick (Will Ferrell) traversing the city in search of that voice in his head. Through this, we’re taken through the Hancock Building, Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Illinois campus (futurist dream), the CTA, Catedral Cafe in the Little Village, and Daley Plaza. Mimicking Crick’s clean yet fragmented mind, Forster isolates bits of Chicago’s greatest architecture to make an entirely new modernist city.
