This weekend we’re screening one of Dario Argento’s early giallo films, Four Flies on Grey Velvet (Tickets). At this point in his career, Argento mostly worked with legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone, but it wasn’t long after Four Flies that the pair had a falling out, forcing Argento to find a new musical collaborator. Cue Goblin. Together, Argento and Goblin enjoyed a remarkable run of success, pairing unforgettable films with these rich, spooky scores.
For our Live + Sound + Cinema presentation of Four Flies on Grey Velvet, composer Daniel Collas will be re-tooling the film with a Goblin inspired score performed live in the theater.
Below we have put together some of our favorite tracks from Goblin, from their most well known work, the theme to Suspiria and Deep Red, to stuff that’s from who knows what. Strap on your cloven hooves and give Satan a chance.
