Ghost in the Machine
Midnite weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnite)!
Director: Rachel Talalay Run Time: 95 min. Format: 35mm Release Year: 1993
Karl, a serial killer known as “the Address Book Killer,” spends his days working at a computer store, which is where he meets Terry (Karen Allen) and decides that she’s his next victim. A car accident prevents this, however, and injures Karl, who later dies in a MRI machine…which just so happens to transfer his soul into its computer system, enabling Karl’s ghost to terrorize Terry via a variety of electronic devices. Yes indeed, GHOST IN THE MACHINE, filmmaker Rachel Talalay’s follow-up to 1991’s FREDDY’S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE, has a lot going on in it, and that’s part of the myriad charms to be found in this wild and very ’90s exercise in unhinged cyber horror. —Matt Barone
