From the Oscar winning producers of Amy, Oasis: Supersonic provides an essential look at the meteoric rise of seminal 90s rock band Oasis, immersing us in the raucous rock stars’ fast-paced world of electrifying music, wild debauchery, and epic fraternal feuding.

Manchester by the Sea

In MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, an uncle is forced to take care of his teenage nephew after the boy’s father dies.

After the death of his older brother Joe, Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck) is shocked that Joe has made him sole guardian of his teenage nephew Patrick. Taking leave of his job as a janitor in Boston, Lee reluctantly returns to Manchester-by-the-Sea, the fishing village where his working-class family has lived for generations. There, he is forced to deal with a past that separated him from his wife, Randi (Michelle Williams), and the community where he was born and raised.

Moonlight

Starring: Naomie Harris, André Holland, Mahershala Ali, Janelle Monáe, Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders

A timeless story of human connection and self-discovery, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. At once a vital portrait of contemporary African American life and an intensely personal and poetic meditation on identity, family, friendship, and love, Moonlight is a groundbreaking piece of cinema that reverberates with deep compassion and universal truths. Anchored by extraordinary performances from a tremendous ensemble cast, Jenkins’s staggering, singular vision is profoundly moving in its portrayal of the moments, people, and unknowable forces that shape our lives and make us who we are.

The Eyes of My Mother

Nitehawk’s LOCAL COLOR and Tribeca Film Festival present a preview screening of THE EYES OF MY MOTHER. Q&A with director Nicolas Pesce.

A young, lonely woman is consumed by her deepest and darkest desires after tragedy strikes her quiet country life.

In their secluded farmhouse, a mother, formerly a surgeon in Portugal, teaches her daughter, Francisca, to understand anatomy and be unfazed by death. One afternoon, a mysterious visitor horrifyingly shatters the idyll of Francisca’s family life, deeply traumatizing the young girl, but also awakening some unique curiosities. Though she clings to her increasingly reticent father, Francisca’s loneliness and scarred nature converge years later when her longing to connect with the world around her takes on a distinctly dark form.

The Silence of the Lambs

Starring: Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glenn

Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI’s training academy, is sent to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, to provide insight into a serial killer being pursued by the FBI. In a now iconic role, Anthony Hopkin’s Lecter is a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for acts of murder and cannibalism. Tense, beautiful and arresting, Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs mingles the horrors of criminal acts with the psychological horrors of Lecter’s slow-motion interrogation of Clarice and of her memories that emerge from it.

Gimme Shelter

Nitehawk’s Booze & Books and Music Driven have partnered with Rough Trade to present GIMME SHELTER celebrating Joel Selvin’s book, Altamont: The Rolling Stones, The Hells Angels, and the Inside Story of Rock’s Darkest Day.

Q&A with Joel Selvin following the screening moderated by Danny Goldberg, President of GoldVE Entertainment

Called the greatest rock film ever made, this landmark documentary follows the Rolling Stones on their notorious 1969 U.S. tour. When three hundred thousand members of the Love Generation collided with a few dozen Hells Angels at San Francisco’s Altamont Speedway, Direct Cinema pioneers David and Albert Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin were there to immortalize on film the bloody slash that transformed a decade’s dreams into disillusionment. – Criterion

Masterminds

The heist-comedy, MASTERMINDS, you’ve been waiting for is finally here!

In this action comedy based on true events, David Ghantt discovers the true meaning of adventure far beyond his wildest dreams. He is an uncomplicated man stuck in a monotonous life. Day in and day out he drives an armored vehicle, transporting millions of other people’s money with no escape in sight. The only glimmer of excitement is his flirtatious work crush Kelly Campbell who soon lures him into the scheme of a lifetime. Along with a group of half-brained criminals led by Steve Chambers and an absurdly faulted heist plan, David manages the impossible and makes off with $17 million in cash…only problem is he foolishly hands the money over to this wild group of double crossers and has been set up to take the fall.

Creepshow
