At fifty years old, the TCSM is one of the most iconic films from the 20th century but little is known about its editor and assistant director, Sallye Richardson. Before the screening, The FOFIF will highlight her contribution to the film and urge the audience to consider its editing while watching.

Chain Saw was made in editing. It wasn’t a case of a scene in the screenplay being ‘x’ pages long — the scenes were as long as they were supposed to be, it was instinctive.” –Sallye Richardson, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Companion, 2003

Extremely Unique Dynamic

Two friends—self-proclaimed movie nerds and unabashed potheads—decide to make a film together. Embracing a vast array of storytelling tropes, EXTREMELY UNIQUE DYNAMIC creates a sharply satirical look at the current state of filmmaking and content-craving Hollywood. The jokes come hard and fast but the heart of the film lies in the affectionate camaraderie between the two leads. Marked by deft and charismatic performances, snappy and hilarious dialogue, and an insider’s knowledge of the film industry, this sly stoner romp is uproariously funny and exactingly critical—it loves filmmaking too much to not see its foibles.

Tops

“What TOP did you wanna wear after TOP surgery?” That’s the sincere question posed by filmmaker Ames Pennington, posing as a deadpan TV host, as they barrel into the homes of interviewees in a desperate attempt to make their first trans friend. This brash, satirical faux documentary nods to early aughts reality shows such as “MTV Cribs,” leading to a campy and chaotic romp that sparkles with affirmation for the trans-masc experience.

Carnage for Christmas

In this festive nightmare, sharp-witted true crime podcaster Lola returns to her conservative hometown for the first time since transitioning. Her Christmas homecoming is fraught with tension as she confronts both the ghosts of her past and a far more sinister horror in the present: a vengeful serial killer emerging from the grave to wreak havoc on the entire town. With each murder more grotesque than the last, Lola must unearth the killer’s dark secrets before her Christmas turns into a massacre. Australian talent Alice Maio Mackay (SO VAM, T BLOCKERS) returns with her fifth feature, completed at the age of 18 and edited by the remarkable Vera Drew (THE PEOPLE’S JOKER). Resourcefully low-budget, CARNAGE FOR CHRISTMAS delivers a thrilling and chilling trans horror that will captivate all audiences.

Queens of Drama

An outrageous musical satire inspired by the American pop frenzy of the early 2000s (think Britney and Christina), QUEENS OF MY DREAMS charts the rise and fall of new star Mimi Madamour and her passionate, rage-fueled love affair with punk icon Billie Kohler. Featuring an iconic cast, including Asia Argento (MARIE ANTOINETTE) and Alma Jodorowsky (BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR), this film vividly dissects the turbulence of toxic relationships—whether between fans and their idols or within passionate queer love affairs. Director Alexis Langlois (THE DEMONS OF DOROTHY, NewFest33) embraces unapologetically glittery and gaudy aesthetics to make his newest film a visual feast.
