Sundays on Fire: Secret Hong Kong 35mm Feature
Midnite weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnite)!
Run Time: 111 min. Format: 35mm
Warning: Images are not from the movies we’re showing. Trust us, you can’t imagine what we’re showing!
We added a screening in December just to have a chance to show one of our favorite movies. Made in 2000, it takes the clench-jawed Hong Kong gangster drama about men betraying men and twists it into a satirical crime drama about a gangster betraying his wife. The directorial debut of an assistant director who’d worked in the trenches for years, it’s a showcase for his talent that would eventually see him become one of Hong Kong’s biggest action directors. Helmed by an awards-nominated performance from one of Hong Kong’s biggest stars, with a screenplay that received multiple award nominations, this is a chance for a whole bunch of underdog character actors and a future superstar director, to deliver a hilarious, ridiculous, hard-hitting gangster romance about marriage.
