The Den

Midnite weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnite)!

Director: Zachary Donohue Run Time: 77 min. Format: DCP Release Year: 2013

For her thesis project, college student Elizabeth, who’s majoring in sociology, goes down an Internet rabbit hole of watching strangers doing random things on webcams. She’s trying to determine whether meaningful interactions with strangers are possible online, but what she comes across is something much worse: a sadistic hacker who’s murdering people as part of a cyber snuff film circuit. And Elizabeth is his new target. Unflinching in how it presents Elizabeth’s inability to stop her online nightmare scenario as it spirals, Zachary Donohue’s THE DEN predated the UNFRIENDED films with its “screenlife horror” aesthetics. It’s also just as good as those films, not to mention equally as mean-spirited. —Matt Barone
