In a stunning performance, Steve Buscemi brings to life the character of Tommy, a  a lovable loser who’s denying reality in the confines of his neighborhood bar. The extraordinary cast, including a luminous Chloe Sevigny, reveal the conundrums Tommy can’t face. Roger Ebert’s review captured the wistful ethos of this bleak and touching comedy: “Any alcoholic knows there comes a moment between the morning’s hangover and the night’s oblivion when things are balanced very nicely, the sun slants in through the bar windows, there’s a good song on the jukebox, and the customers might even start dancing.” Buscemi’s directorial debut premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996, but this masterpiece never got the wide release it deserves.

IndieCollect’s new 4K restoration, scanned from the original 35mm color negative, was created in collaboration with director Steve Buscemi & DP Lisa Rinzler and in association with the George Eastman Museum, with support from the Steve Buscemi & Karen Ho Charitable Trust and IndieCollect’s Donors Circle.
