Sundays on Fire: Secret Hong Kong 35mm Feature

Midnite weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnite)!

Run Time: 103 min. Format: 35mm

Warning: Images are not from the movies we’re showing. Trust us, you can’t imagine what we’re showing!

The second Sunday of every month sees Subway Cinema take over Nitehawk to unleash an action classic from the golden days of Hong Kong movies. We’re not telling you the titles until they appear onscreen because it’s more fun that way but, trust us, we’re celebrating the biggest stars of the ‘80s and ‘90s in their best movies, all presented in glorious 35mm.

This Sunday — one of the most celebrated kung fu movies of the ‘90s! One of the biggest action stars in the world! Have you seen it before? Probably not, because it’s usually released dubbed into English and cut to shreds. We’re presenting it uncut and in Cantonese (with subtitles) the way the good Lord intended. A remake of another major kung fu movie, this version boosts the budget and turns up the action to provide a showcase for a Hong Kong champion. And it’s not just the action that’s on fire in this flick, but the story feels like it’s forged in steel, a breakneck, emotional roller coaster about loyalty, rage, and redemption that’ll send you out of the theater ready to walk into a dojo and take on every clown in town.
