Director John Landis and writer Lorne Michaels make a comedic play off of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and the western adaptation The Magnificent Seven in their 1986 western comedy, The Three Amigos. Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short star as three out of work actors famously known for their bandito characters (Ned, Lucky Day and Dusty Bottoms) who suddenly find their fictional selves in real life danger! See, the Mexican Village who invited them to reprise their roles think that they are real fighters and the three amigos have no idea they’re battling an actual gang of outlaws!
