Queer Voices NYC Film Festival and the American LGBTQ+ Museum Present: A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde

Join us for the Opening Night of the 2026 Queer Voices NYC Film Festival with a special presentation of A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde, directed by Ada Gay Griffin and Michelle Parkerson. Newly restored by Third World Newsreel, this landmark documentary celebrates the extraordinary life, work, and enduring legacy of visionary Black lesbian poet, writer and activist Audre Lorde. Through rare archival footage and intimate reflections from those closest to her, the film offers a powerful portrait of one of the most influential voices in literature, culture, and the fight for social justice.

Following the screening, stay for a special post-film conversation featuring directors Ada Gay Griffin and Michelle Parkerson, moderated by Imara Jones (TBA). The discussion will offer audiences a deeper look at the film’s creation and recent restoration, Audre Lorde’s enduring cultural impact, and the continued relevance of her work today, followed by an opportunity for audience questions.
