We’re All Going to the World’s Fair

Mon, Oct 19

Midnite weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnite)!

Director: Jane Schoenbrun Run Time: 86 min. Format: DCP Release Year: 2021

WE’RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD’S FAIR is the standout feature debut of Jane Schoenbrun (I SAW THE TV GLOW, TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA). The film follows Casey (Anna Cobb) , a lonely teen who is drawn into a creepy online role-playing game that slowly blurs her sense of reality. We celebrate its five-year anniversary by putting it into our Cyber Horror sidebar for this year’s festival. In the vein of films like Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s PULSE, the film explores the particular kind of loneliness that draws people into the vast world of the internet and pulls them from reality.
