Screening and Conversation with Director Steven Jenkins, Musical Performance by Special Guest Steve Wynn

Returning to Nitehawk for a third consecutive year, Bob Dylan Center Director Steven Jenkins will share an all-new collection of rare Dylan films. The program showcases Dylan on stage and in the studio across multiple decades and musical styles, from the acoustic troubadour wowing neo-folkies with his stripped-down performance of “North Country Blues” at the 1963 Newport Folk Festival to the electrified rocker tearing into “Cry A While” at the 2002 Grammy Awards. Other highlights include the plaintive “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” from 1960s Canadian TV series Quest; a full-tilt “Tell Me, Momma,” backed by The Band on the “Judas”-prompting 1966 U.K. tour; a soul-baring rendition of “You’re A Big Girl Now” from the 1976 Rolling Thunder Revue; and many more treasures.

Jenkins will present the films and engage in a post-screening discussion and audience Q&A with singer-songwriter Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate, The Baseball Project), who will round out the program with a brief set of Dylan covers.

The mission of the Bob Dylan Center—which opened in Tulsa, OK in May 2022 as the permanent home of the Bob Dylan Archive—is to inspire and celebrate fearless creativity by exploring the music and artistry of the Nobel Prize–winning singer-songwriter as a catalyst for personal expression and cultural change

This program is generously supported by the Salisbury Fund.
